We just finished our first day of the silent siege. I got there around 4 pm and today was my day to be the spokesperson, the person who explains people who walk up what we are doing. When I arrived there were about 30 people standing. Since the clinic is closed today, I ended up talking to only two people today. The first one was a man who was jogging. He wondered what we were doing. I explained that we were having a silent prayer meeting praying that God would end abortion. He was intrigued. I told him we were going to be out there every day from 8 am-8 pm through May 28th. He excitedly exclaimed that he was behind us completely. I was glad to see a positive response. I told him that this Planned Parenthood clinic was one of the largest abortion providers in Kansas City. He was surprised, not even aware that they practiced abortions.
One thing I was amazed today was the commitment of the day team that is organizing and leading this Silent Siege. They had been out there when I got there since 8 am. They stayed until I left at 8 pm. They are planning to do this every day, 12 hours a day. Their cry is we have to do something radical to see this thing end.
The next people I talked to was too older Catholic men. They told me that they have been praying outside of this clinic for years every Saturday. Excitedly I told them we were joining them! They took two pieces of LIFE tape from me and stood outside of the court in prayer for the last two hours of the Silent Siege.
I am looking forward to the next 22 days as we stand for LIFE. Please continue to pray for grace for me as I am in this in this intense season.
