I.
God is calling His church to pray for the government.
A. In Psalm 27:4 David gave
us what is to be the primary motivation for our lives.
1. “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that
will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” (NKJV)
B. However, just as Psalm
27:4 gives us the “one thing” for our lives
I Timothy 2 gives us the “first thing” for prayer. It tells us the first order
of business as we come into intercession.
1.
I Timothy 2:1-2
“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and
thanksgvings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in
authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness
and dignity.” (NASB)
2. Indeed, this is the calling of God to His
church in this hour. Since we are already “seated with Christ in Heavenly
places” we must take our place as God’s “kingdom of priest” and begin, in a
measure, to rule and reign with Christ on the earth. (see Rev. 4:10 and 11:17)
C. God has called us to shape
our own history through prayer and fasting!!
1.
I believe in the sovereignty of God…However, even in His great power,
God has chosen to co-sign with humans on the earth…to partner with us in prayer
in accomplishing the will of God on this earth.
2.
Isaiah 22:22
“Then I will set the key of the house of David on his shoulder, When he
opens no one will shut, When he shuts no one will open.”
3.
Revelation 3:8
“Behold I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because
you have a little power and have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”
II. The generation that grabs this dynamo of truth will be
the generation that sees the unprecedented power of God!
 A. Since July 10th
I have been a part of a group of intercessors praying specifically for the
government.
1.
We came from all over the country to pray in Colorado Springs for 50 days for 50 states…Exactly 50 people showed up!
2.
We felt like God was raising us up as a preemptive strike for
the elections…to gain air supremacy in the city of the Air Force Academy and
the NORAD secret military command. We stayed in the back of a church sleeping
on the floor, taking showers in cow troughs!
3.
While there I prayed on the night watch from 12-6 am. We asked God specifically every night for the presidential and congressional
elections. We prayed for the homosexual agenda to be shaken and for the people
to be delivered and for the reversal of Roe vs. Wade.
4.
One night as we prayed the spirit of intercession fell…The
Lord had spoken to us that we would see answers to our prayers on the front
page of the newspaper. One night the intercession was full of energy and
extremely unified. Someone had a shofar and began to blow it and said they felt
like the Lord was saying as they blew it our troops in Afghanistan were on the verge of capturing some people in Al-Qaeda. The next morning we discovered
that indeed our troops had captured two members of the Al-Qaeda that very
night!
5.
We ended our time in Colorado Springs praying on top of Pikes Peak
B.
As we prayed in Colorado Springs God began to give us direction for the
rest of our journey
1.
One of our leaders Chris Berguland had an actual experience on the way
back from Kansas City…tell about 201, 301 your moving, tornado
2.
One of the guys in our group had a dream. In it he saw
thousands of young people in front of the Supreme Court…
3.
We set out on our journey down Interstate 70. We stopped at
many churches along the way seeking to stir the churches to vote righteously
and pray.
4.
In Springfield, IL we visited Lincoln’s tomb. On one of the
plaques in his tomb it bared his Second Inaugural Address:
“Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the
bondsman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and
until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn
with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said
"the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”
5.
I knew then that our nation was in serious trouble!
C.
Finally after “going to the laundry room” we crossed the Potomac River
1.
On the night of October 3rd we had a meeting to discuss our
next day.
2.
We decided to go one hour before the NOW’s press conference out in front
of the Supreme Court.
3.
When we arrived the Lord showed us to do the dream and place red tape
over our mouths and cry out silently for the babies that have been
legally murdered in this nation.
4.
As the NOW people stood screaming and yelling for the
television cameras we stood silently crying out to God.
5.
The next day after we prayed about it we felt like God was
telling us to do this every day from 12-5 pm until the day of the elections: 31 days for 31 years.
D.
We connected with Norma McCorvey, the Roe of Roe vs. Wade
1.
She has recently been saved and worked to get her case back in the
court.
2.
Her lawyer came and spoke to us reading Isaiah 28:16-18.
E.
Later on, God provided a House of Prayer for us to cry out in.
1.
God miraculously provided a Hour of Prayer for us on 201 Pennsylvania Ave.
2.
On Wednesday October 13th 21 days prior to the
election we launched 24/7 prayer and worship.
3.
They asked me to lead a Night Watch team praying from 12-5 am.
4.
It began to hit me that I was actually praying on Pennsylvania Ave.!
5.
Around October 20th we began our Night Watch
outdoors in a tent on the National Mall in preparation for the America for Jesus rally.
6.
On this first night, while facing the capitol, we where
gripped with a burden to pray for the breaking of the filibuster which has kept
pro-life judges out the court. We began to declare Tom Daschle will not sit in
that capitol building next and Thone will! We began to take this up every night
as our own.
7.
On Friday, October 22nd we led the morning
prayer of the America for Jesus rally from 6 am – 8 am.
8.
The next day security guards where nervous as 200 people
joined us and stood for LIFE
F.
God did so much! We saw the Lord’s victory as the results of the
elections came in.
1.
We did night watch that night and tracked the elections.
2.
Daschle lost, Bush won, and Louisiana…moral issues
G.
We have not won this battle yet!!
